Manufactured between 1961-1974 the E-Type or XK-E was described upon release as ``The most beautiful car ever made`` by Enzo Ferrari. Originally powered by a 3.8Ltr engine the car saw improvements in 1964 when Jaguar introduced a new 4.2 redesigned XK engine which featured more mid-range power and better torque than the original 3.8. The E-Type went through various changes and through 1968 the new series II cars saw exposed headlamps, a collapsible steering column, changes to the dashboard layout and switches, electric fans and larger bumpers and different light configuration. However few changes made to the e-type are more significant than in 1971 when the series III version was introduced. The features of the series III included a new 5.3 Ltr V-12, larger front grill opening that improved cooling, air conditioning became an option for the first time, power steering was included on all cars and importantly the car featured a wider track that improved the handling performance of the V12.
